Corporate America isn’t the only circle where pay inequities and wage gaps are rampant. In fact, these discrepancies exist across virtually all professions and endeavors—including the arts. Particularly, there are huge gaps between men and women.

According to Artnet, while $196.6 billion was spent on art at auction between 2008 and early 2019, work by women represented only $4 billion, or about 2%. Women, according to the National Endowment for the Arts, earn 80 cents for every dollar male artists earn.
