How large is the pay gap in California for people of different races and genders? According to one study, it stretches to the tens of billions of dollars.

A state law passed last year, SB 973, required companies with more than 100 employers in California to produce reports on how much they pay employees broken out by industry, job type and along gender, racial and ethnic lines.
